Happy New Year gentlemen and yes it is walking time again, albeit I thought we would miss out February after last year’s Somme like ramble!
We’ve decided to walk again from The Malt at Aston on Trent. The pub and food is great and there a variety of walks just over 3 miles on good level surfaces.
Hopefully, we don’t have any visits to A&E this time.
The pub is at 14 The Green, Aston on Trent DE72 2AA. Telephone: 01332 799116.
The meeting time is our usual one of 10.00 am for a 10.30 am start.
For those of you without sat nav or if like me you forget to get the wife to set it for you here are the directions.
The simplest route is via the M1, leaving at Junction 24 if you’re coming from the south and Junction 24a if you’re coming from the north. Take the A50, signposted Stoke, Derby, Lockington, Castle Donington, Shardlow.
Leave the A50 at the first exit and follow the sign for Shardlow. Go over the ‘one way’ bridge at Shardlow Marina and keep straight on until you get to the ‘Dog and Duck’ pub on your left hand side. Turn left, signposted Aston on Trent, and it’s a straight road into Aston. Turn right onto The Green (one way). You’ll see The Malt in front of you, with parking at the rear.
Can you please let me know if you will be joining us no later than Sunday 09 March.
Looking forward to seeing you on the 13th.
Cheers
Martin
